From my first job as a Games Hostess at Sea World of Texas at the age of 16, I have always strived to adhere to established guidelines and meet expectations. I quickly embraced the philosophy of "work hard, play hard," which not only characterized my high school years but also contributed to my personal development. During that time, I found joy in my role, always influenced by the values my mother instilled in me. With a strong work ethic driven by a sense of determination, I aimed to do my best, inspired by the commitment my father emphasized. I viewed life through a lens of black and white—focusing on fulfilling obligations and representing my family positively.
Fast forward to the present, I have progressed to a career in Human Resources, where my primary responsibility is to ensure that everyone receives equal opportunities. This has long been my aspiration for my family, friends, and all those I interact with. Through my professional journey, I've come to appreciate that life is not merely black and white; personal challenges often transcend into the workplace. To navigate this complex landscape, I have learned the importance of incorporating some grey into my perspective.
Achieving a level playing field while adhering to workplace policies necessitates consistency. I have focused on cultivating trust through respect and empathy, ensuring that organizations function effectively. Life presents us with various challenges, and Human Resources is here to support individuals as a valuable resource. It is essential to navigate this fine line carefully, as even a slight deviation can have wide-ranging effects on many.
So, I invite you to reflect: do you see life in black and white, or do you find value in the nuances of the grey?
